He was tested positive for EPO in connection with Fleche Wallone (18 April).
The B sample also showed that he had used EPO.
In the end of August he was given an eight month suspension by the Swiss federation. The suspension runs until 19 July 2002.
In the end of January 2002 the CAS decided not to give him any reduction in the ban.
