In the middle of March, he told that he was prepared to go public with evidence of doping within the Kelme team. He was angry because he was fired during Vuelta a Espana in 2003 because he slept with a woman during the race. A couple of days later, he revealed details about systematic doping within the Kelme team. He told about blood transfusions, and how this was carried out in a dangerous way, how he paid for the doping, how the riders were given medication to keep their hematocrit low but raise the haemoglobin, and how very ill the doping sometimes made him.
