Miscellaneous In the beginning of May, he ran into a bicycle rack with his Porsche. He was intoxicated after having a lot of wine before driving in his car. He had his driving license confiscated.
In the end of May he underwent an operation to his right knee. The knee problems has prevented him from riding this spring.
On June 12 he was tested positive for amphetamines in an out of competition control. He explained that he had taken amphetamines when he visited a discotheque.
In the end of July the German Cycling Federation suspended him for six months due to the positive drug test.
He was also suspended by the Telekom team without payment.
He will probably not be riding for Telekom next season.
